Polarix tubes

Biodys Polarix is a continuous ion exchange resin based waterless biodiesel cleaning process that enables continuous cleaning of biodiesel at ambient temperature or at 80C for optional inline methanol evaporation in one or more static tubes. The process is continuous and the refreshing of the active component is only every 2-8 weeks. Every tube is custom made to ensure the most optimal purification for your production requirements. Polarix tubes are made of stainless steel as plain ion exchange tubes or combined evaporators-condenser-biodiesel purifiers.

Polarix with methanol stripping

Polarix with methanol stripping

Biodys integrates methanol recovery and ion exhange purification in one system: using our EVA evaporator or generic heat exchanger powered evaporators, the methanol is stripped from the biodiesel just before the biodiesel passes through the ion exhange resin.

The hot methanol vapors are being cooled by the cold biodiesel stream before it enters the evaporator. This saves time and energy and doesn’t require you to have a cooling line available. If your biodiesel is already hot and not suitable as a coolant to the methanol vapors, we can use a cold oil line to cool down the methanol vapors. The biodiesel that exits at 80C from the system can be used to preheat the oil that enters your plant.

The two major advantages of Polarix tubes are the excellent flow capacity and the inline methanol evaporation option. The tubes feature a 100 micron stainless steel wire wedge ensuring a firm support for the resin while maintaining a maximum flow.
All tubes are custom made tailored to your production needs. They are calculated for the optimal bed height, resin expansion, flow rate and pressure drop. Why use generic resin ion exchange tubes and end up with overpressure on the resin, low residence times and half-cleaned biodiesel? Polarix tubes work all brands of dry and wet resins which are also available from Biodys at attractive prices.
